A mere thumbnail of an image of Copernicus, featured on Charles Wood's Lunar Picture of the Day (LPOD) February 7, was captured by Damian Peach of Barbados (C14 & SKYnyx 2.0M, August 28, 2009). Wood used the image to contrast and illustrate how observations of the Moon contributed by both professional planetary scientists and so-called 'amateurs.' The level of proficiency and technical skill demonstrated by those in the latter catagory continues to steadily improve and regularly astound.
