SpaceHab shareholders OK name change

Shareholders have approved a measure that calls for Spacehab Inc. to change its name to Astrotech Corp.

The approval came during the Webster-based space services company’s annual meeting on Feb. 10.

Astrotech is the name of Spacehab’s wholly owned subsidiary.

Spacehab (NASDAQ: SPAB) says the name change will allow it to better communicate its redirection and focus on its core business, Astrotech Space Operations Inc.

Spacehab has filed for the name change with the state of Washington, where it is incorporated, and is waiting for approval, according to a spokeswoman.

The company still plans to utilize the Spacehab name through its Spacehab Transportation Inc. subsidiary, which was formed last year.

Spacehab will continue its annual meeting on March 10 in order for shareholders to vote on changing the company’s incorporation from Washington to Delaware, where its Astrotech subsidiary is incorporated.
