Following LCROSS from Earth

Above is a still image from a gif animation by Pablo Labao, showing predictions that LCROSS should be, and is, definitely visible in amateur telescopes. The original LCROSS Observation Group has been making predictions, showing off impressive successes, even explaining daily "S" curves in the low-profile Centaur-satellite's apparent motion at their public website.

LCROSS, having swung into a high and northerly earth orbit after its encounter with the Moon in late June, is on-track for a closely monitored impact with the Moon, Oct. 9.

Meanwhile, if you are looking for a definitive identification of the lunar features visible during the spectacular look-back from LCROSS, not long after its lunar swing-by, Kurt has used the LTVT software to create what may be that very thing, HERE.
