Boulders of Copernicus



Only a portion of the central uplift within Copernicus. The image V-152-H1 was taken by Lunar Orbiter V August 16, 1967 from an altitude of 103 kilometers. The spacecraft was looking straight down as it snapped this series. Resolution is 2.2 m/pixel [NASA/JPL/LOIRP].

On Thursday, December 10, 2009, Keith Cowing and Dennis Wingo hosted an online tour of the "McMoon" building, the former fast food outlet near NASA Ames Research Center in California housing the thoughtfully packaged forty year old Lunar Orbiter magnetic telemetry tapes and exceedingly rare drives used to read them.
