PhD Position in Planetary Sciences / Lunar Research
The topic of the PhD research is the analysis and interpretation of the data received from the SARA instrument of the Chandrayaan-1 mission. The Chandrayaan-1 mission is the first Indian mission to the Moon using an Indian spacecraft and a launch vehicle of ISRO. We are participating in this mission with the SARA (Sub-keV Atoms Reflection Analyser) instrument to investigate the interaction of the solar wind with the lunar surface.
The position requires a diploma or master’s degree in Physics, Astrophysics, or Space Science with excellent grades. We are seeking a talented and highly motivated individual who enjoys scientific software development and has good data analysis skills. Experience with IDL is preferred. The position requires a high motivation to work in an international collaboration and excellent communication skills. Proficiency in spoken and written English are prerequisites for the project, German language knowledge is of advantage for the teaching assistance.
The position is available from 1 July 2008. Salary is according to the regulations of the Swiss Government.
