"

Murphy's arguments have numerous flaws.

For example Murphy suggests Jupiter and Titan as sources of propellant! The article above talks using lunar volatiles instead of Titan volatiles. Lunar volatiles are much more plausible than Murphy's absurd straw man.

And Murphy's math is wrong. He incorrectly patches conics, apparently he doesn't know about the Oberth effect. Nor aerobraking, nor 3-body mechanics as used by Belbruno and others.

I wrote a more detailed critique of Murphy's wrong math:
http://hopsblog-hop.blogspot.com/2012/02/in-his-blog-stranded-resources-tom.htmlHop Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12923433894475072056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6717506789759388697.post-90673446926775973222012-01-15T17:56:51.334+00:002012-01-15T17:56:51.334+00:00Thanks Paul for the wisdom of a mature experienced...Thanks Paul for the wisdom of a mature experienced perspective.

Whom may respond:

Tom Murphy, associate professor of physics,UC, involved with many NASA projects believes that manned space programs are entering entropic death due to Peak Everything.[my paraphrase]Does anyone here see a reasonable path to contravene his well thought argument?
http://physics.ucsd.edu/do-the-math/2011/10/stranded-resources/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
